James H. Dunaway Jr., 79, passed away unexpectedly on July 15.
Born in Akron on June 8, 1931 to the late James & Bertha Dunaway Sr., Jim had been a lifetime area resident. He was employed as an orthopaedic brace maker by both Akron Orthopaedics and Yanke Bionics. Jim served his country as a member of the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife Anne in May of 2010 and his daughter-in-law Kathy Dunaway. He is survived by his son Jim Dunaway and his daughters Jan (Douglas) Mull and Carol (Ralph) Duff; grandchildren Tricia (John) Moser, Sherry (Steve) Schaadt, Melissa Mull, Samantha Dunaway, Kevin Mull, Matthew Dunaway, and Kaitlyn Dunaway; 5 great-grandchildren; brother Art and sister Peggy.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the Anthony Funeral Home KUCKO-ANTHONY-KERTESZ CHAPEL, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. A funeral service will take place on Thursday at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron, where VFW Post 3383 will conduct military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
