Greg Gerald Garrett
5/4/1961 - 7/4/2010






Greg G. Garrett, 49, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 3, 2010.

 He was born  May 4, 1961 to  Vernon (deceased) and Marlene Garrett in Akron and had been an Akron resident his entire life.  He was a  1979 graduate of Garfield High School and worked at Akron Porcelain and Plastic for 12 years while attending Akron University.  He received a Bachelor of Education and two Masters Degrees and began working for the Akron Board of Education in 1990 where he taught Multiple Disability Special Education.  He spent several years working for Hope Homes.  Greg was a published author, home instructor and an intervention specialist.  He coached track and wrestling and was a social member of the Hibernians.             .   

    Greg is survived by his sons Robert of Kent, Adam of Akron and Ryan of Cleveland; his mother Marlene; girlfriend Tanya McGough; siblings Todd and Brian (Donna Carrouzzo) Garrett and Michelle (David) Pribonic; several uncles, aunts,  nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

   The family will receive friends Thursday 4 to 7pm  at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. (Please note new address) and will be followed by A Remembrance Service on Thursday at 7:00 pm (Bring a memory to share).  Interment will be held Friday at 1:00pm at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Words can't express how sad we are to read of Greg's passing. My husband and I both knew Greg before we met each other and we each had special memories of him. I know he always would have a big grin when he'd see you, like greeting an old friend. I will miss seeing him greatly...
