Josephine Elizabeth Makkos

Jospehine Elizabeth Makkos Josephine Elizabeth Makkos, 97, went home to be with the Lord on July 1, at Midway Manor in Hartville. Born in Dunlap, WV on January 2, 1913, to the late Samuel and Elizabeth Kovach, Josephine had been
 an Akron resident since 1929. She worked as a meat cutter for Sparkle Markets, retiring in 1978 after 26 years. She was a member of the now closed St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
 on Brown St., where she was also a member of the Ladies Guild and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was currently a member of the Visitation of Mary Catholic Church in Akron. 
In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1952 and her brothers Louis, Ben, and Al. She is survived by her sister Susan Myers of Akron;
 sister-in-law Rose Makkos of CA; nephews James Kovach, Roger Myers, and Kenneth Myers and nieces Mildred McKee, Anke Myers, and Sandra (Walter) Stine.
The family extends their sincere thanks to to all of the staff at Midway Manor for the wonderful care and quality of life that was given to Josephine.
 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jonathan Zingales on Friday, June 9, at 10:00 am at the Visitation of Mary Catholic Church (Formerly Annunciation) on Broad St. in Akron,
 where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Father
